Bovey Tracey Rookie Competition

Summer 2017 started off with our Rookies entering a Life Saving Competition at Bovey Tracey.  It was a well organised, fun day and to top it off the sun was shining.  Our year 5/6 team came in 6th place with the points being very close and our Year 3 team came in 2nd place and received a Silver Medal each.  We were really impressed with how well the children worked as a team and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Summer Holiday Activities 2017

The Summer Holidays were very busy with children achieving distance awards, taking part in mermaid swims, aqua zumba (pictured right) and some very popular life saving classes (pictured below).  Based on water safety, personal survival and Rookie Life guard skills we held some little life saver classes for 5 to 8 year olds and life saving, first aid and CPR for 8 years and upwards.

Festival First Aid

Three of our Survive and Save Lifesavers went to the Lapstock Music Festival at Lapford in July 2017, to work as part of the first aid team. Pictured right are Jade, Emma and Emma who had the opportunity to spend the day on duty as first aiders patrolling the festival and assisting with a few minor injuries using the skills they had learnt during their Survive and Save sessions.

Our First Swim Club Gala!

On Friday 28th July we held our first in-house Club Gala.  This gave the children in our swim club the chance to compete against each other and to put into practise their starts, turns and gain confidence in competitive swimming.  It also encouraged them to start thinking about the rules within competition, giving them the understanding of what they are taught in their training sessions.  All the children entered had an enjoyable afternoon after displaying some impressive swimming strokes.  Well done Aqua Stars Swim Club!
